Final 2018 Goals

Another month has come and gone. Holy. I mean, I guess there’s still a few hours left of October, depending on when you read this, but still. There’s two months left in 2018 and then we’ll be kissing another year goodbye, crazy isn’t it?

In that regards, I wanted to share some of my goals for the remainder of the year. I do goal posts every month on Instagram, but with me only doing 4 posts a month on here, that would get a little excessive and tiresome. So, I’ve decided to do post my quarterly goal posts on here. It’ll keep me accountable. Let me know if you think this is a good idea. I’ve already missed one month of this quarter, but I digress. Let’s get into the goals.

For those of you who don’t know, I’m working on my dystopian debut novel with hopes – no, scratch that – with plans to publish it next year and there’s a lot of work I have to get done still to make that happen. I finished the second draft last week, as I shared in my post and I started draft three on Monday, exactly a week after. I somehow managed to stick to my week long break, though I thought I was going to go crazy. I plan to finish draft 3 in November and after that, all the really exciting/nerve wracking steps will happen.

My November goals are as follows:

  • Finish draft 3

  • Find a Critique Partner

  • Start the Critique Partner process

  • Continue developing plans for Beta Reading process

Depending on the success of these goals I will then move on to December:

  • Start and finish draft 4 based off of Critique Feedback

  • Start and finish draft five which will be finer edits in preparation for Beta Readers

  • Start Beta Reading process (if you guys are interested in this, let me know in the comments and I’ll add you to my list for later)

Aside from these main goals, I also hope to amp up my website/blog with new and more tailored features. I might just make plans for now and implement them in the new year, but I’ll keep you posted. I’m going to read more too. Please, someone keep me accountable for this, but I should have time to read during the Critique and Beta Reading processes because I cannot touch my manuscript when others are reading it. Oh, and also I need to focus on surviving and passing my first semester of college. Minor details. Lol.

I’ll let you guys know in January how I did with these goals and in the meantime, you can check out my monthly goal posts on Instagram, if you’re interested. Their should be a link to my account at the bottom of this page.

Let me know what your guys’ goals are in the comments! Are you guys doing Nano? What stage of the writing process are you in? Keep in touch and drop me a line if you need advice/encouragement. Happy Halloween and as always, keep writing.
