I can't believe 2020 is already here! The roaring twenties, back in full swing. I guess we'll have to wait and see if that pans out. I am here today to create and share with you my goals for the first 3 months of the year and wrap up last quarter.
I accomplished 14.5/16 writing goals in the final quarter of 2019, which is the best I've ever done! I would celebrate by buying books or something, but one of my new year's resolutions is to read the books I already own before getting more.
In the last quarter of 2019, I read 5 books, sent out newsletters, wrote 7 blog posts, did draft 8 of Silent Night, published Silent Night, hosted a livestream release party on Instagram, mailed giveaway prizes, did my #onewordquotechallenge, followed my Instagram posting schedule, marketed for Silent Night, updated Goodreads and my website, not only continued but finished draft 2 of Silent Night 2, organized a book signing at my local library, and watched youtube videos about writing. The .5 is for my Nanowrimo goal. I did write 30,000 words, but not for the project I was supposed to be doing.
I also completed 2.5/5 personal goals.
My goals for the 1st quarter of 2020 (January, February, and March) are as follows:
Read 3 books
Write all my blog post ideas ahead of time
Start and finish draft 3 of Silent Night 2
Give Silent Night 2 a title
Start the Beta reading process for Silent Night 2
Market for Silent Night
Reach 20 reviews of Silent Night
Stay active on Twitter and Facebook
Prepare monthly freebies for website members ahead of time
Do at least 6 first chapter critiques
Research editors
Research poetry books
Start another first draft?
Aside from the above writing related goals, I also have 8 personal goals:
Be kind to myself
Eat healthier
Cook at least 2 new dishes
Drink more water
Get a job
Decide on school stuff
Less screen time
Budget
This gives me a total of 21 goals. I think my list is manageable. I'll be focusing more on my personal goals this quarter as my writing goals are much more muted. Here's to kicking off 2020 with a bang.
I’ll update my progress in April where my writing agenda will really start to amp up. In the meantime, you can check out my monthly goal posts on Instagram at emmathewriter, if you’re interested. Or, you can subscribe to my newsletter and get info first hand from yours truly, along with access to my members page : )
Let me know what your guys’ goals are in the comments! Keep in touch and drop me a line if you need advice/encouragement. Have a great start to the year and as always, keep writing.
